Night watch

Emotion blur: Night Watch Scott Bennett | 2013 | Digital image | Collection the artist

This work is based on my experiences of shooting the night sky and attempts to capture the Southern Lights from Ross. Often freezing, I spent many hours under the bright winter sky. The camera could pick up beautiful colours but to the human eye it is mostly a black and white experience. The colours of some stars are just perceptible with averted gaze. Falling stars are the brightest and most colourful. The strongest aurora I saw, appeared like search lights on the horizon, reminding me of WWII scenes.
